Ms. Scholz-Barth teaches an elective course, “Sustainable Landscape Design for Watershed Protection,” at the University of Pennsylvania, Department of Landscape Architecture, School of Design, during the fall semester since 2001. The course discusses a broad range of opportunities, including green roofs, to create healthy landscapes that ecologically enrich urban areas and protect watersheds. Students are exposed to and trained in the use of the U.S. Green Building Council's (USGBC) Leadership in Environmental and Energy efficient Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System.

Katrin Scholz-Barth has also lectured at Parson School of Design, Georgetown University, Virginia Tech University, Penn State, and the Catholic University of America.
